I designed and animated a series of children’s backgrounds in the playful style of Hey Duggee, created to support live set environments. The brief required a visual language that was simple, bold, and easily adaptable, allowing a wide variety of animal characters to be introduced seamlessly without breaking the overall aesthetic.
The process involved developing a flexible character system with clear shapes and expressive features, ensuring each design could be quickly re-skinned for different personalities while still feeling part of the same world. I focused on creating cheeky, joyful characters full of personality, using subtle gestures and movement to bring them to life.
This project was a chance to dive into a more whimsical, illustrative style and to explore how animation could support storytelling not just on screen, but as an atmospheric layer within a live performance environment.
